When the heat sets in, the pace of the day begins to slow. Bodies withdraw, activity comes to a halt, and the siesta becomes a ritual: a moment apart, shaped by shade, rest, and letting go. In Mediterranean societies, this pause has historically structured the rhythm of the day as a direct response to the climate.
Drawing on this particular relationship with time, the project takes the radassier as its starting point, from the Provençal radassa, meaning to idle or lounge. An emblematic piece of Provençal furniture, the radassier becomes the basis for a contemporary reinterpretation of this typology of rest.
The radassier thus becomes an infrastructure for idleness: a device that frames and celebrates the deliberate act of pausing.
