This project is rooted in the history of the Camargue, celebrating the encounter between two cultures, Camargue and Roma, which were long seen as opposed. Today, shaped by the legacy of Folco de Baroncelli’s commitment, Roma culture has become an integral part of the cultural landscape of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer.
Set within the town’s public square, the project takes the form of an ephemeral sculpture conceived as a space for gathering and exchange. Its design draws on equestrian and Camargue traditions through circular forms and references to the arena, while embracing a nomadic spirit through a lightweight, demountable structure made from flexible, tensioned materials.
The installation creates a living space for cultural encounters and collective celebration.
