What if an Object Could Behave Like a Living Being, Without Actually Being Alive?
To explore this question, I focus on the notions of behaviour and movement applied to objects that are usually inanimate: a series of lamps. Inspired by behavioural biomimicry, my approach does not seek to replicate a natural form, but rather something more fundamental: the ability of matter itself to respond to its environment.
The project develops through experimentation, combining three types of wire with complementary properties: shape-memory nitinol, copper, and a superelastic wire. I test, observe, and adjust. Movement emerges from these experiments: the lamp opens when switched on and closes when switched off. No mechanism. No human intervention.
