This final-year project proposes the renovation of the Jeu de Paume museum in Paris in response to the changing nature of contemporary artistic practices. Now dedicated to the image in all its forms, including photography, video, sound, and immersive installations, the museum faces a growing disconnect between its programme and an architecture originally designed for different uses.
The project is based on the concept of a “box within a box”: preserving the existing historic envelope while introducing a contemporary architectural intervention capable of accommodating new media. This approach transforms the museum into a sensory experience, where light, contrast, sound, and circulation become integral to the way artworks are displayed and experienced.
