Refuge, in Latin, refugium, means a “place where you take refuge, where you flee to take shelter”. It is a tangible or intangible place that you go to when you need it.
More than just a place, a refuge is first and foremost a concept. In the mountains, it becomes a pleasant space, where you spend some time or a night, away from digital stimuli and urban hustle and bustle.
Today, shelters have to deal with ecological and tourism issues that bring their future into question.
Through this travel diary, I explore how we inhabit them today, so we can better envisage how we will inhabit them tomorrow.
