In Lège-Cap-Ferret, mass tourism and rising water levels are jeopardising access to the ownership of the traditional dwellings originally intended for oyster farmers. The disappearance of these emblematic places, witnesses to the identity and history of the region, threatens the local architectural profession and heritage. In the small village of Piraillan, a proposal emerges: to create new huts as an extension of the old village, reserved exclusively for those working on the water. This new lake village will respect the region and its unique environment. Inspired by the original huts and their management, these resilient new living spaces increase the dedicated housing area for oyster farmers, while protecting against rising water levels.
