The architecture of a hotel is not simply a creation for the guests, but also a representation of a hotel chain’s brand. In the case of a French hotel, the aim is to convey a sense of welcome, whether it’s a “home-from-home” or a “make yourself at home”, while embodying the French art of living.
But what does this “art of living” really mean? It all resides in the attention to detail. Among the various aspects of French craftsmanship, we chose to focus our project on fragrance, a distinctive element of Sofitel hotels.
Our ambition was to showcase the scent specially created for these hotels. How can olfactory architecture complement this fragrance? Our approach was to include all the senses into the design: sight, touch, smell, hearing, and taste."
