The former Cassini secondary school in Clermont de l'Oise, a recently listed vestige of modernism, is a testament to the major challenges of pre-war architecture. Transformed into a school for restoring vintage cars, its new programme is closely linked to the building’s original vocation. It highlights the strong link between the artistic, architectural and technological developments of this era. These three elements are incorporated into the design of a place intended for students and visitors, opening up the building to its surroundings, made up of a park and a historic neighbourhood. The building manifests the qualities and limitations of a model; as such, the challenge of this renovation is to restore a balance between the considerations of this era and current wishes.
