The horizon of the furthest-reaching point of the Côte d'Azur appears before visitors. Our first impression of Cap Sicié in La Seyne-sur-Mer is one of escape and peace. Weeks of water fasting are organised in parallel with periods of migration, drawing inspiration from the more frugal lifestyle of birds. The programme and architecture reproduce the feeling of freedom, encourage reflection on social conventions and challenge the notion of needs. The ruins of the semaphore remain unchanged and a light architecture is grafted onto them like a nest. The varied roofing creates shadows and forms spaces where the outdoors and indoors meet, revealing circuits of resources for all to see, so that we might become more aware of our impact.
