Thanks to their great ability to adapt, the DIYer (do-it-yourselfer) seems to be a truly contemporary figure to study in response to current challenges. With this dissertation, I would like to deconstruct the perceptions of a practice generally reduced to its mere manual characteristics, often viewed with disdain, in order to show its concrete intelligence, its transversality and its humanistic values. The DIYer illustrates the need to restore common sense within an all-consuming model of society. How long will an economic model based on overconsumption last? We already know that we are in the middle of a real crisis. A paradigm shift is needed. The philosophy of the DIYer thus emerges as a tool for thought and action that will help us rethink a sustainable societal project.
