This dissertation is based on my personal experiences on self-build sites. While all trades are represented and support the approach, it is striking to note that interior architecture is almost absent in this environment. This observation then leaves a possible opening for bringing these two practices together and seeing how they might complement one another. In the end, the challenges of this experience could well go beyond the framework of self-builds, as the constraints addressed on a human scale in each of these small projects reflect a more global situation, applicable to all housing and the new needs of its inhabitants.
