The issues at stake are multiple: identity, architecture, land use, and economics. Why and how should a heritage building be saved from potential demolition in a territory undergoing constant transformation? Through a neoclassical building housing Monaco’s current tourist office, this project proposes a rehabilitation balancing conservation and contemporary intervention. A tourist office reflects the identity of a territory: it must both serve it and act as its showcase. Yet tourism habits have evolved with the digital age. Making this place lively, attractive, and open to new uses therefore seems essential to prevent it from disappearing. How, then, can this emblematic building be brought back to life, so that it once again becomes a place for information, discovery, and local life?
