How we think about prison reflects the way society thinks about justice.
Should deprivation of freedom alone or rehabilitation be encouraged? In Europe, repeat offence differences between imprisonment models directly question the role of prison architecture.
Firstly, by looking through the history of imprisonment in France, then by drawing on the accounts of people currently in the Sud-Francilien de R\u00e9au prison complex and by studying three European prisons, two of which are open, we will reflect on the architectural models that foster successful rehabilitation of people in custody.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n
