This dissertation offers an aesthetic, technical and narrative study of the professions of cinematography: production designers, directors of photography, costume designers, interior designers and many others.

Through the analysis of iconic films and series, it explores the decisive role these \u201cinvisibles\u201d play, a term borrowed from sociologist Samuel Zarka, in creating a cinematic universe.
