This dissertation questions the trajectory of wabi-sabi, the Japanese aesthetic of imperfection, from sensibility rooted in artisan skill and time as it has been experienced to how it is integrated into contemporary industrial design. It asks a central question: what does uniqueness become that seems to be imperfection that can be reproduced? Between Tanizaki, Koren, Benjamin, Deleuze and the Zara Home \u00d7 Axel Vervoordt case study, it proposes to consider the \u201cmass-produced uniqueness\u201d as a field of tension between aura and mockery, authenticity and brand strategy.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n
