This dissertation questions the evolution of the Savoyard chalet, from its origins as a regional pastoral shelter to its contemporary transformation to be a symbol of luxury and comfort.

Through an architectural, cultural and territorial analysis focused on the municipalities of Valmeinier and Valloire, it highlights the mechanisms of creating the myth of the chalet in the collective imagination. The study compares the functional and sober uses of the alpine chalet with current interpretations reflected by tourism and mountain property.
By exploring the notions of heritage, Alpine identity and representation, this work reveals the tensions between rural memory, staging of authenticity and contemporary requirements.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n
