This dissertation starts with basic intuition: what if objects are not simple things, but vessels that withstand the passing of time carrying the memory of those who created them?
My enquiry started at the Mus\u00e9e de l’Homme, looking at biface tools that are several hundred thousand years old. Along with Leroi-Gourhan and Simondon, I discovered how these carved stones embody more than technical gestures, also a thought, a vision of the world. The Venus of Lespugue and the Egyptian sarcophaguses then showed me how objects carry elements that cannot be seen: beliefs, rites, cosmogonies.
I then turn this anthropological viewpoint to look at our present. Our smartphones, our time capsules, our nuclear waste: what do they actually convey about us?<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n
