The dissertation explores the place of the designer in contemporary production systems, at a time of European reindustrialisation and ecological transitions. It highlights three realities: labour, the rise of machines and standards, and then the distance modelling and flow organisation produces. Through three books (Ordo, Modus, Distensio), it describes how the factory manufactures more than objects, it also manufactures methods, standards and dependencies. The challenge is to understand where the decisions are made that determine production form, duration and impact, and how design can find an operating function within this.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n
