When I arrived in Morocco, I was very quickly struck by the beauty of the basins, the noise of the running water, the freshness of the patios. However, this water being present contrasted with the aridity of the outdoor landscapes.
This dissertation questions the role of water in Moroccan society based on an observation of difference. While water appears to be a central element of the collective imagination, a vector of coolness, sociability and expertise, its real presence now seems fragmented. Concentrated in museums, hotels and tourist attractions, it is rarely found in everyday public spaces, where many fountains are abandoned or deactivated.
This staging contrasts with the reality of a country facing structural drought.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n
