The Laveria Lamarmora, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and suspended between land and horizon, is a former lead and zinc processing plant dating from 1897, part of Sardinia\u2019s mining heritage. Altered by time, only its stone walls and monumental arches remain standing.
Despite its significance within Sardinia\u2019s architectural heritage, the site now lies forgotten and abandoned. An encounter with a heritage architect gave rise to a central question: how can this ruin be brought back to life? How can it be made accessible to the public, while presenting its mining history in a contemporary and dynamic way and remaining sensitive to its current condition, its relationship with the landscape, its topography, and its powerful horizon?
The ephemeral emerges as a response to the passage of time.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n

La Lav\u00e9ria Lamarmora<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n

La Lav\u00e9ria Lamarmora est situ\u00e9e en aplomb de falaise, en suspension entre terre et mer, totalement d\u00e9pourvue de toiture. Elle entretient une continuit\u00e9 intense entre int\u00e9rieur et ext\u00e9rieur marqu\u00e9e par les grandes ouvertures en arches. <\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n

L’implantation \u00e9ph\u00e9m\u00e8re est un petit festival port\u00e9 par un \u00e9chafaudage r\u00e9parti sur l’ensemble du site. L’image ci-dessus est l’un des espaces de grand banquet suspendu au-dessus de la ruine et de l’espace musical situ\u00e9 une strate en dessous. <\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n

La Lav\u00e9ria Lamarmora est construite en cascade et suit la topographie du site. Les espaces sont divis\u00e9s en diff\u00e9rents niveaux. <\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n

La ruine est habit\u00e9e par une architecture p\u00e9renne et une architecture \u00e9ph\u00e9m\u00e8re. Elles cherchent habiter les arches, r\u00e9v\u00e9ler l’existant et apporter une nouvelle fa\u00e7on de vivre le site sans le d\u00e9naturer ou lui imposer un devenir par une architecture irr\u00e9versible. <\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n

La structure p\u00e9renne donne un acc\u00e8s s\u00e9curis\u00e9 au site, cr\u00e9e un nouveau parcours et renforce \u00e9galement les fa\u00e7ades en front de mer fragilis\u00e9es par les vents. L’acier corten r\u00e9siste \u00e0 l’air marin, rappelle le pass\u00e9 industriel du site et cr\u00e9e une unit\u00e9 colorim\u00e9trique avec les pierres chaudes du site tout en important un contraste m\u00e9tallique.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n
