Formed by Mount Etna\u2019s volcanic activity, the lava exhibits internal variations that make each block unique. Drawing on these natural structures, the project develops a transformation process in which the stone becomes a cyanotype, a drawing, and then a three-dimensional form. Each stage simplifies and reinterprets the previous one, making variation a principle that generates form.
The project creates a family of light fixtures and mirrors in which light, reflection, and material interact. The dark, mineral surfaces of the lava contrast with reflective elements, evoking the Sicilian landscape as seen from the sky: the black mass of Mount Etna set against the luminous reflections of the Mediterranean Sea.
