Reimagining the refuge of tomorrow in response to ecological pressures and the challenges of tourism requires a fundamental rethink of its function and its relationship with the natural world. The refuge becomes a sentinel, observing and protecting its environment while learning to coexist with local wildlife and vegetation without disturbing them. It embodies a regenerative approach in which the human footprint is minimised, while offering visitors a place for both physical and mental restoration.

Beyond providing shelter, the refuge rethinks the way we inhabit the world by promoting reciprocity between humans and nature and encouraging an ecocentric approach, one that recognises the experience, presence, and value of all living things.
