In Bonifacio, cliff erosion directly threatens the upper town and its residents. Beyond the risk of collapse, an entire way of living is being destabilised: close relationships between neighbours, everyday connections to public space and the surrounding landscape, and a collective memory deeply rooted in place.
The project explores a response to this situation through the reactivation of the Montlaur Barracks, a former military site that now stands largely vacant at the heart of the peninsula. It proposes relocating housing, shops, and shared community spaces within the site, supporting a spatial and social transition while maintaining continuity in everyday life and existing uses.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n

La presque-\u00eele de Bonifacio se caract\u00e9rise par un contraste marqu\u00e9 entre la min\u00e9ralit\u00e9 des falaises calcaires, la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation basse du maquis m\u00e9diterran\u00e9en et la pr\u00e9sence constante de la mer, avec une ville implant\u00e9e sur un promontoire rocheux au sud de la Corse.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n

Les falaises calcaires sont fragilis\u00e9es par une \u00e9rosion continue li\u00e9e \u00e0 la mer, au vent et aux infiltrations d\u2019eau, entra\u00eenant depuis 2018 plusieurs \u00e9boulements significatifs. Cette instabilit\u00e9 menace directement une trentaine d\u2019immeubles et une rue principale situ\u00e9e en bord de falaise, dont certains b\u00e2timents ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9vacu\u00e9s. <\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n

Au-del\u00e0 du risque physique, la situation interroge la possibilit\u00e9 de reloger les habitants sans faire dispara\u00eetre leur mani\u00e8re d\u2019habiter. Ici, le logement s\u2019inscrit dans un tissu dense, une proximit\u00e9 avec les commerces, des espaces partag\u00e9s et un lien constant au paysage. <\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n

La caserne Montlaur s\u2019impose comme une \u00e9vidence par sa proximit\u00e9 avec les zones menac\u00e9es et sa position centrale dans la citadelle. Ancien lieu de vie aujourd\u2019hui en grande partie inoccup\u00e9, elle offre un potentiel concret pour accueillir une relocalisation adapt\u00e9e.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n

La nouvelle fa\u00e7ade int\u00e9rieure structure les usages et les circulations. En mettant \u00e0 distance les logements des murs ext\u00e9rieurs et en int\u00e9grant des coursives ventil\u00e9es, elle r\u00e9pond aux enjeux climatiques du contexte m\u00e9diterran\u00e9en et favorise \u00e0 la fois la lumi\u00e8re et le prolongement des espaces de vie. <\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n
