The territory of Rustrel, at the heart of the Luberon ocher massif, still bears the traces of a former industrial landscape, where red rock rises above the forest. Until the 1930s, ocher pigment was extracted here, driving a local economy later replaced by synthetic alternatives. This activity left behind industrial wastelands that have since been turned into a landscape known as the Colorado: an apparently natural setting that visitors pass through, sometimes overlooking the village and the working-class memory on which its history was built.
To reconnect these two realities, the project seeks to reveal the micro-territories that exist beyond the spectacle, places and spaces that engage with the perception of light, verticality, and the boundary between inside and outside.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n

Au c\u0153ur du Luberon, le village de Rustrel abrite d’anciennes friches d’ocre aujourd’hui devenues un v\u00e9ritable mus\u00e9e \u00e0 ciel ouvert. Ce territoire forme la c\u00e9l\u00e8bre randonn\u00e9e du Colorado proven\u00e7al, o\u00f9 le chemin traverse un paysage saisissant de falaises et de roches rouges n\u00e9es du travail minier.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n

La balade du Colorado de Rustrel<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n

L\u2019ocre extrait \u00e0 Rustrel a sculpt\u00e9 un paysage indissociable de son histoire \u00e9conomique et r\u00e9gionale. Aujourd\u2019hui, le site est r\u00e9duit \u00e0 un spectacle touristique qui masque l\u2019\u00e9paisseur r\u00e9elle de ce territoire.

Pour traiter le territoire dans son ensemble, le projet d\u00e9ploie deux \u00e9chelles d’intervention : deux \u00e9difices-ancres au village et \u00e0 l’entr\u00e9e du site, et cinq micro-architectures qui cadrent la marche.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n

Mes immersions r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9es sur ce site m\u2019ont incit\u00e9e \u00e0 r\u00e9interroger cette promenade pour y offrir un regard diff\u00e9rent. Le projet vise \u00e0 d\u00e9passer la simple travers\u00e9e touristique en r\u00e9v\u00e9lant les hors-champs et l’histoire du lieu.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n

Micro-architecture n\u00b01:<\/em>\u00a0 \u00c0 5 minutes du d\u00e9part, sur la gauche du chemin, une premi\u00e8re micro-architecture en bois adapte sa structure aux courbes du relief. Par un simple jeu de plancher orient\u00e9, elle agit comme un pointeur vers la rivi\u00e8re sous-jacente, r\u00e9v\u00e9lant au marcheur la pr\u00e9sence discr\u00e8te de l’eau, hors du champ visuel classique de la balade.\n<\/figcaption>\n <\/article>\n\n\n

Micro-architecture n\u00b02:<\/em>\u00a0Face \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re \u00e9tape, cette micro-architecture poursuit la travers\u00e9e gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son jeu d’estrade en continuit\u00e9 du chemin. En proposant une posture allong\u00e9e, elle incline le regard vers la canop\u00e9e, transformant la marche en une exp\u00e9rience verticale du sous-bois.\n<\/figcaption>\n <\/article>\n\n\n

Micro-architecture n\u00b03: <\/em>Un \u00e9cran de tasseaux fins isole le marcheur du chemin tout en filtrant la lumi\u00e8re. Abrit\u00e9 dans cette travers\u00e9e \u00e0 paliers, le corps est orient\u00e9 vers des cadrages impos\u00e9s : une s\u00e9quence de vues qui d\u00e9coupe le paysage, du d\u00e9tail des pierres s\u00e8ches jusqu’\u00e0 l’horizon des vignes et des montagnes.\n<\/figcaption>\n <\/article>\n\n\n

Micro-architecture n\u00b04: <\/em>Sur le chemin menant au village, ce refuge l\u00e9ger s’adresse aux marcheurs, cyclistes et riverains. Il offre une halte contemplative o\u00f9 le corps s’allonge pour cadrer le Colorado depuis un point de vue in\u00e9dit. Un espace adaptable dont le visiteur devient le propre sc\u00e9nariste : repos, pique-nique ou jeu.\n<\/figcaption>\n <\/article>\n\n\n

Micro-architecture n\u00b05: <\/em>Proche du village, cette micro-architecture tire parti d\u2019un espace r\u00e9siduel en bord de route.
