This project explores how design can shape our relationship with the end of life through an object that is often kept at a distance: the funerary urn.
I develop an urn designed to serve a dual purpose: a familiar object that can be part of the home during one\u2019s lifetime, before eventually becoming a vessel for ashes.
Through this object, I examine both individual and collective memory, as well as our contemporary difficulty in approaching death as anything other than a sensitive or uncomfortable subject. The aim is not to dramatise loss, but rather to allow for a sense of familiarity and a more sensitive preparation for an experience that concerns us all.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n
