What are the architect\u2019s responsibilities in defining shared space and creating the private sanctuary? This project uses paper theatre to reveal the moral tensions that shape our environments. Drawing on three of La Fontaine\u2019s fables, it pays tribute to the allegorical approach that guided the project: The Wolf and the Lamb for public space, The Grasshopper and the Ant for the threshold, and The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse for the intimate sphere.

The triptych first shapes the public realm, oscillating between the authority of the watchtower and the accessibility of the lamp. At the threshold, the vulnerability of the deckchair facing the door questions the social contract and the notion of property.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n

La premi\u00e8re sc\u00e8ne pose la question : comment fa\u00e7onne-t-on ce qui est commun ? Un espace public peut \u00eatre organis\u00e9 pour que chacun y ait une voix \u00e9gale, ou pour que certains y dominent et surveillent les autres. Deux visions et deux choix s’offrent a l’architecte.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n

La deuxi\u00e8me sc\u00e8ne pose cette question : par quels moyens, physiques et immat\u00e9riels, trace-t-on la fronti\u00e8re entre priv\u00e9 et public ? C’est ici, qu’on parle de limite. Cette fronti\u00e8re peut \u00eatre un mur, une porte, un grillage… Mais aussi un droit, une propri\u00e9t\u00e9, un contrat social.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n

La troisi\u00e8me sc\u00e8ne pose la question de l’exclusivit\u00e9 : qu’est-ce que l’architecte peut offrir \u00e0 l’individu dans son espace le plus intime ? Soit il reproduit les normes collectives \u00e0 l’int\u00e9rieur m\u00eame du foyer, soit il cr\u00e9e les conditions pour qu’un individu existe selon ses propres termes.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n

J’ai choisi le th\u00e9\u00e2tre de papier comme m\u00e9thode immersive pour le projet. C’est un m\u00e9dium qui est compos\u00e9 de d\u00e9cors et de personnages d\u00e9coup\u00e9s, dessin\u00e9s \u00e0 la main. Ce choix n’est pas anecdotique puisqu’il pose d’embl\u00e9e que ce que vous regardez est une repr\u00e9sentation assum\u00e9e, et pas une reconstitution du r\u00e9el. <\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n
