The RESTATIO project transforms the former courthouse of Mortagne-au-Perche into a hotel residence. It marks the transition from an imposed stop, associated with justice, to a chosen stay. Built in 1840 and originally designed as an enclosed building to preserve the confidentiality of judicial proceedings, it becomes a welcoming place open to its surroundings.

My approach is based on a typological shift: transforming the rigour of the judicial institution into hospitality by rethinking essential rituals such as sleeping, eating, and washing. In the bedrooms, all domestic functions are integrated into concealed cupboards that blend into the walls. This system of an inhabited wall clears the room and refocuses the space entirely around the bed, placed alone at its centre.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n

Vue en entrant dans l\u2019h\u00f4tel – Calpinage au sol qui guide la circulation\nLe Perche est devenu le refuge naturel de citadins en qu\u00eate d\u2019authenticit\u00e9 et de d\u00e9connexion. Aujourd\u2019hui destination touristique de premier plan, ce territoire de bocage fait face \u00e0 un nouveau d\u00e9fi : la demande pour une h\u00f4tellerie de qualit\u00e9 y d\u00e9passe d\u00e9sormais largement l\u2019offre existante.\nLa premi\u00e8re intervention architecturale consiste \u00e0 ouvrir l\u2019ancienne Salle des pas perdus. Deux ouvertures cr\u00e9\u00e9es de part et d\u2019autre de la borne d\u2019accueil fluidifient la circulation, tandis que l\u2019ancien acc\u00e8s \u00e0 la salle d\u2019audience, transform\u00e9 en baie fixe, offre d\u00e8s l\u2019entr\u00e9e une perspective directe sur le restaurant et le jardin.\n\n<\/figcaption>\n <\/article>\n\n\n

\u00c9l\u00e9vation sensible – Fa\u00e7ade Nord\u00a0\nIssu du latin restare, s\u2019arr\u00eater, demeurer, ce titre symbolise le passage d\u2019un arr\u00eat contraint, celui du jugement,\u00a0 \u00e0 une halte d\u00e9lib\u00e9r\u00e9e.\nIl incarne la suspension du temps et le retour aux rituels essentiels : dormir, manger, se laver, au c\u0153ur de la rigueur de l\u2019ancien tribunal.\n\n<\/figcaption>\n <\/article>\n\n\n

\u00c9l\u00e9vation sensible – Fa\u00e7ade Sud – L\u2019intervention architecturale majeure se d\u00e9ploie sur la fa\u00e7ade nord, brisant l\u2019ancien huis clos judiciaire. Les fen\u00eatres d\u2019origine, plac\u00e9es tr\u00e8s haut pour isoler les d\u00e9bats, sont prolong\u00e9es vers le bas pour ouvrir l\u2019\u00e9difice sur ses jardins.\u00a0\n\n<\/figcaption>\n <\/article>\n\n\n
