\u201cCreating an image.\u201d In printmaking as in photography, the image does not reveal itself immediately: it is constructed slowly, through an uncertain process. On various scales, from objects to architecture, devices such as the diorama, the panopticon, and the daguerreotype have sought to produce and reveal images. They rely on light, viewpoint, and perspective, gradually transforming what is perceived. \u201cMonitor\u201d draws on these principles to transform the Arte print shop into an image-making workshop. The rotunda is at its heart: it connects the building\u2019s two wings, structures the levels, and organizes a journey from the public to the private, from the visible to the intimate. On each floor, it transforms and alters the ways the space is used.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n

Les spectateurs prennent place dans une rotonde pouvant tourner lentement sur deux axes et s\u2019arr\u00eatant face \u00e0 deux sc\u00e8nes, offrant deux points de vue. Chaque sc\u00e8ne est une toile semi-transparente de 24 m peinte par Daguerre. Un jeu de lumi\u00e8res plac\u00e9 devant\/derri\u00e8re r\u00e9v\u00e8le diff\u00e9rents d\u00e9tails et cr\u00e9e l\u2019illusion de transformation (jour\/nuit).<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n

La Rotonde <\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n

La rotonde est l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ment central du projet, c\u0153ur de la machine et lien entre les deux ailes ainsi que les deux niveaux du b\u00e2timent. Cette architecture en L, s\u2019ouvre sur deux points de vue distincts et g\u00e9n\u00e8re une trame spatiale qui guide l\u2019ensemble de la conception du projet pour faire dialoguer transversal et longitudinal.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n
