As our interfaces become increasingly digital, a form of bodily memory fades away along with them. Faced with this loss, we have chosen to view ordinary gestures as a form of heritage in their own right.

The act of dialing a telephone\u2014which evokes our mimetic memory\u2014has emerged as the foundation of this project, thanks to its mechanical resistance and its inherent sense of time. Diverted from its original function, it becomes here a switch: an object serving a universal and enduring purpose\u2014that of turning on the light.

The switch does not seek to evoke nostalgia. It offers a conscious interaction, where the mechanics engage the body and slow down the gesture.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n

Pour ce projet, nous avons choisi d\u2019adopter une d\u00e9marche invers\u00e9e : ce sont les exp\u00e9rimentations qui nous ont conduits au produit final. La fonction, la forme et le fonctionnement de l\u2019objet sont ainsi le r\u00e9sultat d\u2019un processus de recherche fond\u00e9 sur l\u2019exp\u00e9rimentation, o\u00f9 chaque essai a contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 fa\u00e7onner le projet.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n\n

\u00c0 mesure que les technologies acc\u00e9l\u00e8rent, nos interactions avec les objets deviennent plus rapides mais aussi plus impersonnelles. Les gestes s\u2019effacent, et peu \u00e0 peu, c\u2019est une m\u00e9moire du corps qui dispara\u00eet avec eux.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/article>\n
