It was at the end of the 19th century, in a context shaped by war and industrial development, that the modern era represented a moment of significant disruption. Architects, seeking change, sought to break with traditional norms to establish a new order, focused on innovation and standardisation. This movement introduced the idea of newness: freed from ornamentation, architecture became geometric, uniform and functional, with utility prevailing over aesthetics. This trend continues to influence contemporary architecture, which, through this rejection of traditional values, often appears devoid of meaning, culture and memory.
