Mauritian craftsmanship is at risk of disappearing due to the government's lack of investment in promoting these skills, which is leading to a disinterest among future generations. Located in Mare Taba in south east Mauritius, this project aims to transform a former agricultural site into a craft hub dedicated to creating, transmitting and promoting local craftsmanship. Through the renovation of existing buildings and the construction of extensions using sustainable materials, it is transformed into a space for work, learning, and sharing. Inspired by Creole architecture and vernacular practices, the venue will host artisans, young people, and volunteers in participatory workshops to preserve a vibrant and collective memory of Mauritian craftsmanship.
