Our project "Mutatio" (change or transformation in Latin) is inspired by minimalist style and the 18th century Shaker peg rail system, combined with contemporary needs. This versatile third place, developed for the designers of tomorrow, combines spaces for work, relaxation and exchange, all based around values of sharing and creativity. A load-bearing metal structure, partitions and modular furniture allows the interior to be rearranged according to the activities taking place. Our research targets spaces capable of multiple uses and programmed versatility. From day time workspaces to night time parties, these spatial sequences open up to create large, flexible rooms that can be adapted to various uses, making the space infinitely adjustable.
