The aim of this dissertation is to analyse the conditions under which design exists in order to observe its relevance with regard to current ecological challenges.
We examine how design was born in a capitalist context, inseparable from industry, and how it has become a cultural product, adhering to the autonomous trend of art.
It has penetrated all spheres of society by becoming a global model and philosophical stance, transforming our social relationships.
We postulate that while it sometimes seems illusory to transform design into an ecological ally, new paths are opening towards a formal and theoretical revolution in design using the notion of utopia. Towards resilient design, that future generations might adopt.
