Impressions of the Casbah of Algiers, whether those
of its inhabitants, visitors or my own, are at the heart of this dissertation. My study is not limited to architectural and urban forms, it is also interested in the sensations of being on site. Having grown up in Algiers, my connection to this medina is personal and deep. This research aims to reveal a millennial medina and a unique traditional architecture, while offering a new perspective on the city, highlighting subjective perceptions, emotions, memories and views that cross the Casbah.
